ITALIAN BAROQUE SILVER-PLATED REPOUSSE WALL MIRROR - An antique Italian oval wall mirror. Dated 17th to 18th century. Baroque style. The mirror is set within a shaped, quatrefoil-cusped surround upholstered in crimson velvet, applied throughout with repousse silver-plated mounts depicting winged cherubs, fruit, acanthus, scrollwork. All measurements are approximate. Condition The mirror exhibits heavy wear consistent with age. The central glass shows severe degradation, foxing, and substantial loss of silvering. The silver-plated repoussé ornaments display tarnishing, minor bending, and rubbing to the high points. The red velvet ground is heavily worn, faded, and frayed at the edges. The wooden backing is stable but shows age splits and surface abrasions.
