LARGE FRENCH CHRISTIAN LEMESLE ABSTRACT FIGURE OIL PAINTING - A 1965 mid-century Modernist abstract oil on canvas painting by French artist Christian Lemesle (1935–2012). The large-scale composition combines geometric abstraction with Surrealist elements, depicting a stylized female figure in a blue dress suspended on a swing amidst textured planes of deep green, ochre woodgrain patterns, grid-like mesh textures, and a cream panel with circular cutouts. The work is incised ”Ch. Lemesle 65” at the lower right and inscribed ”Lemesle” on the reverse canvas. The stretcher bears a stamped label for Findlay Galleries, New York, with inventory number F3818.
