AMERICAN EDWARD HOLSLAG WESTERN CATTLE DRIVE PAINTING - A monochrome grisaille oil painting on canvas by American Western artist and muralist Edward W. Holslag (1870–1925). Executed in tonal brown and grey washes, the dynamic composition captures cowboys on horseback driving a herd of longhorn cattle across a dusty prairie landscape. The painting is signed ”EDW. HOLSLAG” in dark pigment at the lower right corner. Dimensions Frame: 33 1/2 x 22 in. Image: 26 x 13 1/2 in. Condition Good overall condition. The monochrome painted surface exhibits natural age-related paper and canvas toning with mild surface dust. The artwork is mounted behind glass in a black mat and a molded giltwood frame. The frame shows light wear, corner abrasions, and surface scuffs. The reverse is sealed with paper backing and fitted with a wire hanging apparatus. Unexamined out of frame.
