EUROPEAN VILLAGE LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING SIGNED - A late 19th to early 20th-century Central European rustic landscape painting executed in oil on canvas. The genre scene depicts a young woman in traditional peasant dress standing beside white-washed, thatched-roof cottages feeding chickens, set against a backdrop of trees and distant blue mountains under a cloudy sky. The work bears a signature reading ”V. Wanyek” in dark pigment at the lower right corner. The canvas reverse displays a circular purple ink stamp, inventory numbers in pencil and blue wax crayon, and a handwritten inscription along the stretcher margin. The oil on canvas surface is stable with fine craquelure and light surface dirt. Canvas remains securely attached to its wooden stretcher with an ink stamp on the reverse. The ornate gilt gesso frame suffers from severe flaking and large areas of missing gesso along the bottom rail, exposing raw wood beneath.
