MIKHAIL LARIONOV RUSSIAN INK BALLET DANCER STUDY PAINTING - An original ink and white gouache drawing on paper by Russian-French avant-garde artist Mikhail Larionov (1881-1964). Created in the 1920s, the sketch depicts a ballerina with her hands raised behind her head, executed in Larionov's rapid, expressive, and striated linear style typical of his studies attending Ballets Russes rehearsals. The piece is initialed ”M.L” in the lower right corner. This specific drawing is documented as ”Study of a Dancer” in a 2010 Art Historical Report by Dr. Anthony Parton, which notes its origins in the Darius Tal Yar Khan Collection. The reverse of the frame bears a Columbus Museum of Art (CMOA) label. The artwork is presented in a dark frame with a brass artist nameplate affixed to the lower margin. The ink lines and white gouache highlights remain distinct and well-preserved. There is slight undulation to the paper visible near the lower right corner. The piece is framed under glass and has not been examined outside of the frame.
