ANTIQUE MEISSEN PORCELAIN ALLEGORY OF WAR FIGURAL GROUP - A complex and highly detailed late 19th/early 20th-century Meissen porcelain figural group depicting an Allegory of War (or Cupids Forging Arrows). The piece features two winged putti gathered beneath a large oak tree. One cherub, wearing a tricorn hat, operates a detailed foot-pedal grinding wheel, while the other inspects a freshly forged piece. A quiver of arrows and a broken sword rest on the rococo-scrolled, marbled base. The oak tree is decorated with a garland of applied polychrome flowers. Marks: The underside bears the authentic Meissen underglaze blue crossed swords mark, alongside incised model number ”C 26” and painted decorator marks. antique meissen porcelain, meissen putti figure, allegory of war, meissen cherubs, 19th century german porcelain Dimensions Height 8 in. Condition The figures are brightly painted and structurally sound overall. However, there are visible losses: there appears to be a small loss to the seated putto's right hand, missing finger. There are also typical ”flea bite” chips to the tips of the fragile applied oak leaves. Typical minor shelf wear to the underside.
