BORIS SVESHNIKOV RUSSIAN LANDSCAPE WATERCOLOR PAINTING - Boris Sveshnikov (Russian, 1927–1998). Watercolor painting on paper. Village street landscape. Dated ca. 1970s–1980s. Unsigned. Inscribed ”July 24” on the backside. Unframed. Boris Sveshnikov was a Russian Nonconformist painter, graphic artist, and book illustrator. In 1946 he was repressed for anti-Soviet propaganda. Following his release in 1954, Sveshnikov continued to work in the fantastic realism style that he had developed in the Siberian labor camps.
