SACHA MOLDOVAN AMERICAN STREET SCENE OIL PAINTING - Sacha Moldovan (Russian-American, 1901–1982). Oil painting on canvas. The artwork depicts a street crowd. Signed ”Moldovan” upper left and to the backside. Undated. Framed. Carnegie Art Museum stamp on the backside. Sacha Moldovan, born Shaya Shnayder, was a Russian-born American artist of Jewish descent. During WWI, his family emigrated to the U.S. and settled in New York City. Moldovan is known to have worked with many other artists, including Henri Matisse and Chaim Soutine. His style is usually attributed ot Expressionism and Post-Impressionism.
