A JAPANESE KABUTO HELMET AND MENPO - Edo era, the five-plate steel bowl lacquered black, with fine gilt brass maedate representing a family mon of seven disks arranged in a circle. The steel shikoro of four plates lacquered black, with large, rounded, fukurin, shikoro and blue lacing. Original lining intact. With its menpo of black-lacquered steel with laced four-lame neckguard intact. 17th-18th century. Minor, some losses to lacquer on shikoro. Overall height 29cm/ 11 1/2 inches. Condition III
