A BRITISH M 1796 LIGHT CAVALRY OFFICER’S SWORD - Of classic form, custom made for an officer, with steel stirrup hilt superbly wrought and profiled throughout, and fine horn grip retaining its twisted wire wrap. The lightly curved, single-edged blade with hatchet tip and broad fuller, finely etched with stands of arms amongst foliate panels struck with a crowned 4 at the right forte, and OSBORNE & GUNBY at the base of the spine. Late 18th-early 19th century. Lightly pitted overall, minor wear to grip. Overall length 95cm. Condition IV
