MEXICAN REVOLUTIONARY-ERA CHAPARRERAS CHAPS - Rarely encountered, a form which originated in 18th century Colonial Mexico, made entirely of leather, roughout with applied leather mounts at the waist, sides and cuffs, elaborately tooled overall with grapevines, all with embroidered borders. Set with three silver buckles. The reverse with original turned bone toggles. Of the quality worn by hidalgos and other Mexican aristocrats. (see image below—NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LOT.) Late 19th-early 20th century. Minor wear, one toggle lacking. Overall length 94cm. Condition III
