A MIDDLE EASTERN GENERAL OFFICERS SWORD - The hilt in the form of a shamshir, the dark wood grip with engraved brass pommel set at a right angle to the elaborately-modeled brass guard, the lightly-curved and fullered single-edged blade etched with vinework for much of its length. In its leather-covered wooden scabbard with elaborately-embellished brass mounts en suite with the hilt. Retains its woven sling. Second half of the 19th century. Minor wear, grip rubbed. Leather chipped. Overall length 94cm. Condition II
