Hindu Gilt Bronze Indra Airavata 3-Headed Elephant - Finely cast Southeast Asian patinated bronze sculpture depicting the Hindu deity Indra riding his mythological mount, Airavata. Cast bronze/brass with applied gilt highlights. Circa mid-to-late 20th century. King of the gods, Indra, is seated atop the elephant and is wearing a tiered Chada crown, chest plates and armlets while holding ceremonal blade or ritual weapon. Three-headed elephant, Airvata, is adorned with intricate blanket and harness, highlighted in gold-gilt accents. Bronze surfaces exhibit attractive verdigris and oxidized patina. Very good condition. Minor surface wear and rubbing to gilded elements, consistent with age. Measures approx. 7”Lx4.75”Wx8.25”H.
