Large 18/19th C O/C Painting Foundling Scene - An antique 18/19th C oil on canvas painting featuring a crowned woman with her handmaidens with a baby and basket, including a couple in the bushes behind them, and a town in the background / scene similar to Moses and Miriam and the Foundling, Nile River. Note a hole in the lower left corner of the canvas and cracking varnish. It has similarities in layout and coloring to the 1722 painting by Adrian Van Der Werff but this artist is unidentified and a signature cannot be found. The canvas comes with an antique gilt wood and gesso frame, w/ some restorations. Canvas is not secured in frame. A thick cardboard covers the back and is screwed into the frame as the consignor had it professionally re-lined. Canvas measures approx. 45.25” H x 50.75” W, frame measures approx. 53.5” H x 59” W.
