Bidspirit auction | Anglo-Chinese Carved ”Spinning” Type Hall
Anglo-Chinese Carved ”Spinning” Type Hall Chair - Antique (early 20th century). The chair features a tapered backrest with a highly decorative, pierced carving of a coiled imperial dragon chasing a flaming pearl, set into a low base with a multi-sided removable seat. While often referred to as ”folding” due to the two main pieces separating for easy transport (resembling African chief chairs or European spinning stools in assembly), it functions primarily as rigid, decorative accent chair. There is some loss to the stone mosaic on the seat. There is a broken piece on the chair ”leg” area (included). Condition: Absence of a condition statement does not imply the lot is in perfect condition, free from flaws, restoration, or the effects of aging/use.
