Japanese Woodblock Moon at Magome Kawase Hasui - Japanese woodblock print (shin-hanga) on traditional washi paper titled ”Moon at Magome” by prominent artist/printmaker and master of shin-hanga movement, Kawase Hasui (1883-1957). Piece considered one of the most iconic, atmospheric and universally recognized designs from Hasui's celebrated series, ”Twenty Views of Tokyo.” Captures nocturne in rural village that is modern-day Ota Ward, Tokyo. Specific print is verified lifetime edition from original woodblocks under Hasui's oversight between 1946 and 1957, as it is stamped with authentic Watanabe 6mm circular publisher seal in lower-right corner of image field. Artist's signature in black ink in lower-left corner above artist's red ”Sui” seal. Left margin includes Japanese title (Magome no Tsuki) and original block-carving date notation, Showa Go-nen Saku (Made in the 5th Year of the Showa Era/1930). Very good condition. Toning consistent with age. Measures approx. 15.5”Lx10.25”W.
