Antique Chinese Famille Rose Tobacco Leaf Platter - Highly desirable 18th-century Chinese porcelain platter decorated in the vibrant ”Tobacco Leaf” pattern. Circa Qianlong Period, 1775-1785. Intended for elite European market during the Qing Dynasty, this piece serves as exceptional survivor of early global luxury trade. Enameled with overlapping, tropical tobacco leaves and serrated foliage. Large central pink hibiscus flower and smaller multi-colored blossoms. Rendered in brilliant underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze famille rose enamels. Gilt work heightened throughout with fine hand-painted gilt accents outlining the leaf veins and borders. Platter has scalloped foliate rim contouring the shallow, wide dish. Outer rim underside hand-painted with overglaze iron-red and underglaze blue floral sprigs. Underside of base is unglazed, gritty surface that reveals an oxidized, iron-rich orange-brown clay body which is characteristic of authentic 18th-century kiln firings; unmarked/unsigned as correct for that period. Good condition. Minor glaze imperfections, kiln pits, light rubbing to gold gilt trim and minor surface scratch wear, all of which is consistent with age. Measures approx. 18”Lx15.5”Wx3”H.
