18th C Chinese Famille Verte Gu Narrative Vase - 18th century (late Kangxi period) Chinese porcelain beaker-form (”Gu”) vase decorated in classic ”Famille Verte” palette with vivid, continuous narrative composition. Depicts celebrated folklore of Zhong Kui, the Demon King. He is rendered with bristling beard, scholar-warrior official cap and sword, resting against terrace table with ritual offerings. Narrative scene wraps around body in detailed ”iron-red” wash and varioud shades of green enamels. Vessel has flared rim and spreading foot. Underside has underglaze blue double ring. Good condition. Retains vibrant colors. Shallow glaze chip on upper lip of flared rim, minor scuffs on surface. Measures approx. 7”Lx7”Wx13.75”H.
