Using a specialized technique known as ”shwe chi doe” (gold thread embroidery), this piece showcases quality three-dimensional artistry. Originated in Myanmar (Burma). Features sacred lotus blossoms and lily pads, the Buddhist symbol of purity. Embellished with metallic threads, sequins and glass beadwork to create main scene of detailed padded design raised in high relief from black velvet background base. Plain woven cotton/muslin protective backing. Velvet base remains deep, padded relief elements retain shape and volume. Very good condition. Natural age-related creasing seen on backside.
