20thC French Jacquard Wall Tapestry w Tavern Scene - Large mid-century (circa 1950s-1970s) French pictorial wall tapestry depicting a classic 17th-century style Flemish or Dutch tavern/bar scene, heavily reminiscent of genre works by David Teniers the Younger. Ink-stamped with ”Made in France” on reverse. Machine-woven Jacquard textile, rendered in highly desirable monochromatic sepia and golden-tea color palette. Scene depicts traveling minstrels playing lute and bagpipes performing in stone tavern with monkey, hounds, wine barrels and lantern. Upper hem features period-correct rectangular metal hanging looops, stitched securely so textile is ready for rod or hook mounting on wall. Weaving remains tight, colors well-preserved. Very good condition. Light, occasional loose strands at edges. Measures approx. 51”L x 39”W.
