19th C Korean Mother of Pearl Inlaid Box - Antique rectangular Korean box from the 19th century measuring approx. 5.5” H x 12” W x 8” D. Similar item sold as Christie's for $87,500 on March 19, 2019, Japanese and Korean Art Live Auction 17148. It features intricate mother-of-pearl inlay across the exterior. Decorative geometric / diamond shape and 6 pointed flower / star / sun motif adorns the sides, with a central circular inlay design on the lid that is similar to the Double Happiness symbol. The interior is lined with a blue textile. The base is lacquered. Exhibits wear consistent with age, including visible cracking to the inlay surface and edge wear.
