Gold-Plated Bronze Mahakala Buddhist/Hindu Statue - Gold-plated bronze statue of Mahakala, a deity common to Hinduism and Buddhism. In Buddhism, Mahakala is regarded as a Dharmapala (”Protector of the Dharma”) & a wrathful manifestation of a Buddha, while in Hinduism, Mahakala is a fierce manifestation of the Hindu god Shiva and the consort of the goddess Mahakali. This version of Mahakala is depicted w/ 2 arms & 3 eyes, a crown w/ 5 skulls, & a khanda double-edged straight sword wielded in his right hand. He is in a leaning pose w/ both hands in the Karana mudra, a way to ward off evil and negativity. This statue could be a Tibetan depiction. Statue weighs approx. 12 lbs 12 oz (5.75 kg). Item is approx. 12” tall, 5.25” long at base, & 8.25” wide at base. There is engraved detailing on the bottom that resembles the vishvavajra (double vajra / dorje). See photos for further details.
