2 small gouache paintings by Charles Cobelle (FR 1902-1998) including men at a bar and a seaside scene with figures on brown toned paper. Each painting measures approx. 8" W x 5" H in decorative frames approx. 14.75" W x12.75" H OD. Artist info: Charles Cobelle was a prolific oil and watercolor painter. His impressionistic and modern art form is often presented using light colors, pastels, washes of various tones, and open lines. He studied at the University of Munich and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was also privately tutored by Marc Chagall. After moving to America in the 1920s and becoming a citizen, his work became well-known, and artist Charles Cobelle's oil painting prices increased, allowing him to become commercially successful. His artwork appeared on magazine covers and wall murals.
