This is medallion number 461 as registered in the Wedgewood Archives and Registry. The Wedgwood Medallion is framed on velvet with minor loss to the gilding as seen in the photos. The piece is from the estate Benjamin Franklin Hammond, PhD. Dr. Hammond was ”an emeritus professor of microbiology in University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine and the school's former associate dean of academic affairs” (source: University of Pennsylvania's Almanac).
