Antique Soddie Axe - This rare ax dates from the mid 19th century, and was used on the prairie to build houses with walls and roof made of sod. Primarily used in the plains states, these tools were produced by blacksmiths in the east and carried west with the settlers. A nearly identical ax is on display in the Smithsonian institute. Overall length of 49”, blade length approx. 16”. (Size and weight should be taken into account for shipping) Condition: Absence of a condition statement does not imply the lot is in perfect condition, free from flaws, restoration, or the effects of aging.
