Byron Bodt Wooden Gadwall Hen Decoy - 11 x 4.5 inches. This hand-painted wooden duck decoy depicts a gadwall hen in a sleeping or tucked-head posture. The body features carved texturing to simulate plumage, with a painted speculum rendered in shades of green and light blue. The head is turned and rests against the back, with the black-painted bill tucked into the feathers. The underside of the decoy is equipped with a lead weight secured by two screws and a metal screw-eye for tethering. The base of the decoy features several marks: the words GOD and BOUT are impressed directly into the wood in a vertical orientation. Adjacent to the lead weight is a handwritten signature in blue ink reading Byron Bodt Churchville, MD 1988.
