M.C. Lilley & Co. Fraternal Tunic - This long black ceremonial tunic was manufactured by The M.C. Lilley & Co. in Columbus, Ohio. The primary body is composed of a heavy black textile with a light-colored striped fabric lining. The garment features a stand-up collar and a waist band both trimmed in red silk or satin. It is extensively decorated with silver-toned metal studs, gold-toned embroidery, and small colored beads. The back of the tunic features a prominent sunburst motif consisting of a central green cabochon with radiating gold-toned threads tipped with red beads, all enclosed within a lobed, eight-pointed star border created by domed metal studs of varying sizes. A continuous zig-zag pattern of metal studs adorns the red waist and collar bands. The lower hem and sleeve cuffs are decorated with repeating stylized floral or scalloped patterns of metal studs. The garment closes at the front with a series of metal snap fasteners. Inside the neck, a white rectangular label reads HERALD.
