Southeast Asian Jar w/ Fish, Green - This large ceramic jar is a functional storage vessel of Southeast Asian origin, likely from Myanmar or Northern Thailand. The piece features a characteristic ovoid body with a short, tapered neck and a prominent rolled rim. The vessel is constructed of a heavy clay body covered in a thick, translucent green lead glaze that showcases an all-over crackle or crazing effect. Decorative elements include four equidistant applied relief figures of fish, possibly catfish or carp, situated around the shoulder. These figures are accented with incised details for scales and fins. The upper third of the body is further embellished with horizontal incised lines framing bands of impressed ornamentation, including a central register of concentric circles flanked by rows of small, repeating triangular patterns. The jar tapers to a flat, unglazed base showing a reddish-brown clay body. A small white adhesive sticker bearing the printed number 167 is affixed to the outer edge of the rim (photo 3).
