Biedermann, Rocket Locomotive, Ink - 18 x 24 in. A detailed watercolor and ink drawing on cream wove paper depicting Robert Stephenson's 1829 steam locomotive, the Rocket, and its accompanying tender. The work is executed in a precise technical illustrative style. The locomotive features a tall vertical smokestack with a red crown-shaped top, a wooden-lagged boiler, and large yellow-spoked driving wheels. A small red rectangular plaque on the side of the boiler is painted with the word ROCKET in gold capital letters.
