Bidspirit auction | Keen Kutter Iron Nail Puller

Keen Kutter Iron Nail Puller - This antique hand tool is a sliding-sleeve nail puller constructed from forged steel and cast iron. The tool features a central shaft with a weighted, sliding handle sleeve designed to be slammed down against the lower head to drive the pincer jaws into wood around a nail head. The head assembly consists of a pivoting pincer jaw and a curved lever arm used to pry the nail out once gripped. The upper handle sleeve is cast with a raised, shield-shaped logo that contains the words KEEN KUTTER in two lines. Below this logo is a rectangular inset with the impressed text PAT APD FOR. The reverse side of the handle sleeve features a raised, rectangular inset reading MALLEABLE IRON. On the flat, hexagonal-style bolster above the main sleeve, there are two stamped characters: a letter C inside a circle followed by a letter W. The tool is finished in a worn black lacquer or paint over the cast sections, while the lower pincer head and shaft remain in a natural oxidized metal state.
