Bidspirit auction | Set of 2: Indian Kukri
Set of 2: Indian Kukri & Fish Knife - Kukri overall length: 12.5 inches Floating fish knife overall length: 9.5 inches. This lot features two fixed-blade knives of distinct origins and functions. The first is an Indian kukri, a forward-curving blade characterized by a notch, or cho, at the base of the edge. The polished steel blade is decorated near the spine with stippled patterns, including the word INDIA applied in a series of dots. The handle is constructed with a hidden tang and a flared pommel, likely fashioned from horn or dark wood. It is ornamented with circular white metal inlays and metal bands, terminating in a cast metal pommel cap depicting a lion or deity. The kukri is housed in a black leather-covered wood scabbard with a metal chape at the tip. Tucked into the scabbard are two traditional small accessory tools: a karda (small utility knife) and a chakmak (blunt sharpening tool), both featuring matching dark handles. The second item is a utility fishing knife designed for buoyancy. The stainless steel blade features a serrated spine and an integrated bottle opener near the bolster. It is stamped in block letters with the phrase FLOATING FISH KNIFE. The handle is made of a light-colored, low-density wood to allow the knife to float if dropped in water. It includes a matching wood scabbard that fits flush against the handle, creating a continuous cylindrical form.
