Velvet Collar & G. Washington Medal - A fraternal ceremonial collar, likely associated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows or a similar fraternal society, accompanied by a George Washington peace medal reproduction. The collar is constructed from deep purple velvet with an interior pinkish-red silk or satin lining. The exterior is decorated with intricate botanical sprays in metallic thread and features a central representation of the High Priest's breastplate, composed of twelve multicolored fabric squares in a four-by-three grid. The collar is edged with a gold-tone woven border and a metallic thread fringe. The accompanying oval medal is a reproduction of the 1794 George Washington Indian Peace Medal. The obverse depicts George Washington in military uniform and a Native American figure extending their hands toward each other, with a cow and a plowman visible in the landscape. The obverse is inscribed GEORGE WASHINGTON PRESIDENT 1794. The reverse features the Great Seal of the United States with an eagle holding a scroll inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM, an olive branch, and a bundle of arrows, beneath a cloud and sunburst motif. The interior of the collar retains a damaged black cloth label with gold-tone lettering that reads: The Ward Stilson Co. / MFRS. OF SOCIETY GOODS / Anderson, Ind. An ink stamp reading 331 is also visible on the interior lining.
