Frank M. Whiting Sterling/Glass Compotes - Sterling silver. Height: 5.5 inches. A pair of compotes consisting of clear glass inserts and sterling silver weighted bases. Each glass insert features a shallow, flared bowl with a crimped or ruffled rim. The glass elements are designed to be removable from the silver pedestals. The silver bases are constructed with a thin sterling silver exterior and are weighted and reinforced internally for stability. The circular foot of each base is decorated with a gadroon border consisting of repetitive slanted curves. The underside of the silver base bears a stamped mark in circular format reading STERLING BY FRANK M WHITING & COMPANY with a central W in a circle, followed by the text WEIGHTED AND RE-ENFORCED 2000.
