Franklin Mint Sterling Christ Medallions - A collection of commemorative medallions featuring high-relief scenes from the life of Jesus Christ, designed by artist Gianni Benvenuti for the Franklin Mint. Each medallion is struck in sterling silver with a 24 karat gold electroplated finish, presenting a proof-like contrast between the frosted raised relief and mirrored backgrounds. The obverse of each piece depicts a specific biblical event, while the reverse features a central decorative cross design. The reverse of each medallion is inscribed with Life of Christ at the top, the artist's name GIANNI BENVENUTI, a copyright symbol followed by 1980 FM, and a specific scene title such as THE NATIVITY or THE RISING OF LAZARUS. The edge of the medallions bears the impressed text 24 KT. GOLD ELECTROPLATE ON STERLING followed by a copyright symbol, a small circular device containing a stylized F and M, the numbers 90, and the letter P in a square cartouche. The set is presented in its original rectangular red velvet-covered case with a white silk-lined interior lid. The interior lid features a printed silver-tone decorative cross and the title Life of Christ. The exterior of the lid displays the same cross and title in a gold-tone print. The case is secured with a single brass-tone metal latch at the front.
