Onyx Glaze Art Pottery Vases - 13 x 11 inches. This collection of earthenware vases showcases various American art pottery techniques, primarily focusing on variegated ”onyx” drip glazes. The group includes two matching ovoid-shaped vases with slightly tapered necks and flat rims. These pieces are finished in a multi-toned drip glaze incorporating seafoam green, forest green, and teal blue. One of these vases has the characters ”050” incised on the underside, while the other features an unglazed, buff-colored foot ring surrounding a green-glazed center. A larger ovoid vase with a short, inset neck is decorated in a high-gloss cobalt and navy blue onyx glaze. The underside of this blue vase bears a white adhesive paper label with handwritten text reading ”BRUSH McCOY ONYX” and an ”X”. The base also shows three distinct kiln stilt marks. The collection is completed by a squat, bulbous vessel with a wide mouth and two vertical slab-style handles attached at the shoulder. This piece features a matte mottled glaze in sage green with patches of mauve and tan. The underside displays a swirling green and cream glaze pattern within a raw, buff-colored foot ring.
