An American portable electric sewing machine featuring a cast aluminum body with a black japanned finish and gold-toned decorative decals in a Celtic knot pattern. The top arm is marked with a gold-toned serif inscription reading THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. A smaller gold-toned decal reading SINGER is located on the motor cover. A circular brass medallion on the front pillar features a stylized S logo and reads THE SINGER MFG. CO. NY TRADE MARK. The machine is fitted with a chrome-plated handwheel and trim. Stamped into a raised rectangular boss on the underside of the base is the serial number AF579711. A silver and black plate on the motor is marked SEWING MOTOR CATALOG 3-110 100-110 VOLTS 25 TO 75 CYCLES AND D.C. 0.4 AMPERE SIMANCO. U.S.A. The machine is accompanied by a black plastic foot controller marked SINGER PART NO. 194584 MADE IN FRANCE. It includes a black Tolex-covered carrying case with dual metal latches. Inside the lid is a hand-written paper label reading MRS. ARTHUR CASTLE 320 JAMES AVE. LAST MR KEEPER JANEY 3-7111.
