Bidspirit auction | Pair Hand Painted Wood Duck

Pair Hand Painted Wood Duck Decoys - 18 x 8 inches. A pair of wooden black duck decoys featuring hollow-body construction and carved heads with inset glass eyes. The bodies are finished in a dark, textured gray-black paint with stippled tan highlights simulating plumage and distinctive cream-colored chevron-style feathering details painted on the tails. The heads are carved separately and joined at the neck, exhibiting a blend of dark gray and tan tones that reveal the underlying wood grain. The undersides are flat and painted matte black. One decoy is equipped with a central rectangular wooden keel featuring an inset oval lead weight. On the underside of the decoy with the keel, there are small, faint hand-written characters in black ink that appear to read 165. A thin white cord is tied around the neck of the other decoy.
