American 5-Gal. Stoneware Jug - An American stoneware whiskey jug of beehive-top form, likely originating from the late 19th to early 20th century. The vessel is constructed with a cylindrical body and a conical shoulder tapering to a narrow neck with a single strap handle. It features a two-tone glaze composition: a dark brown Albany-type slip glaze covers the upper portion including the spout, handle, and shoulder, while the lower body is finished in a light gray salt glaze. The shoulder is decorated with a single stenciled numeral 5 in cobalt blue, indicating a five-gallon liquid capacity. The body displays numerous firing characteristics typical of period stoneware, including small pits and instances of glaze crawling where the clay body is visible through the glaze. There are no legible maker marks or signatures present on the vessel.Measurements/notes: Clock 11 in. L x 20 in. H.
