Winchester & Barney & Berry Ice Skates - A collection of early 20th-century American ice skates featuring various attachment styles, including adjustable clamp-on and permanent mount models. The group includes examples from the collaboration between the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and the Barney & Berry skate company. One pair of chrome nickel-plated clamp-on skates features adjustable toe clamps operated by a threaded screw mechanism and heel plates with integrated leather strap assemblies. The blades are stamped with an impressed mark reading LAKE PLACID - CHROME NICKEL and another mark reading BARNEY & BERRY WINCHESTER TRADE MARK. These skates also bear the stamped size designation 9 1/2. Another skate in the collection is an Interscholastic model, characterized by a tubular frame construction. The side of the blade is stamped with the impressed text TRADE MARK - WINCHESTER - MADE IN U.S.A. and the word INTERSCHOLASTIC below it.
