Tavannes, Gruen, Elgin & Timex Watches - A group of vintage manual wind and mechanical timepieces, comprising open-face pocket watches and ladies' wristwatches. One open-face pocket watch features a white enamel dial printed with John W. Weston, Tavannes, and SWISS, with a sub-seconds dial at the six o'clock position. The gold-toned case has a decorative reverse engraved with a hummingbird and flowers; the interior case back is impressed with a wheel-and-anchor motif above the words WADSWORTH, PILOT, WARRANTED, 25 YEARS, and the number 2564183. Its nickel movement is engraved TAVANNES WATCH CO, 6414380, U.S. PAT. 24 MAY 1904, ADJUSTMENTS THREE, and 7 JEWELS SEVEN. A second pocket watch is a silver-toned Westclox Scotty model, with a dial printed Westclox SCOTTY, SHOCK RESISTANT, and MADE IN U.S.A. The ladies' wristwatches include a cushion-shaped Gruen with a dial printed GRUEN CURVEX, PRECISION, and SWITZERLAND, featuring a case back stamped GRUEN 10K GOLD FILLED and a double-strand snake chain bracelet. A rectangular manual wind watch has a dial printed ELGIN De Luxe and is fitted to a bicolor expansion band. A small oval watch has a dial printed TIMEX, with a case back stamped 10K GOLD FILLED and personalized with an engraved inscription reading M.E.S. 8-1-48.
