Cast Iron Angelus & Guitarist Bookends - A collection of cast iron bookends featuring high-relief decorative subjects in metallic finishes. One pair depicts a pastoral scene based on Jean-Francois Millet's painting The Angelus, showing a man and a woman standing in prayer in a field with a church spire in the distance and a harvest basket on the ground. These pieces are finished in a dark bronze tone. Another pair, designed with an arched top, depicts a man playing a guitar beside a prickly pear cactus, with architectural details visible in the background. This pair features a bright silver-toned finish. All pieces have a textured, pitted reverse side consistent with the sand-casting process. The base of each piece is covered in brown felt.
