American Mission Quartersawn Oak Stool - An American Arts and Crafts style footstool constructed from quartersawn oak with a dark stained finish. The stool features square-section legs topped with decorative pyramidal caps that extend above the seat rails. The side rails are slightly arched and joined to the legs with mortise and tenon construction. A H-shaped stretcher base provides additional stability. The rectangular seat is upholstered in a dark brown material secured by a perimeter of large, round-headed patinated metal upholstery tacks. The underside is fitted with an orange patterned textile dust cover. The base of one foot is impressed with the numbers 460. No other maker names, labels, or country-of-origin marks are visible.
