Pair African Hardwood Tribal Figures - This pair of hand-carved representational sculptures is crafted from a dense, heavy hardwood with a dark finish. The collection consists of two distinct archetypal figures: a warrior and an elder. The standing warrior figure is depicted holding a long-bladed spear in his right hand. He features an elaborate, tiered hairstyle with incised geometric patterns highlighted in a reddish-brown pigment and wears a textured sash draped diagonally across his torso. The elder figure is portrayed in a seated position on a stylized stool, characterized by elongated limbs and a detailed facial expression showing age lines and a beard. He holds a natural forked wooden staff and wears a removable waist wrap made of a coarse, brown burlap-like textile.
