Hollow-Body Canada Goose Decoy - This hand-carved wooden Canada goose decoy features a hollow-body construction, evidenced by a visible vertical seam running along the length of the back. The decoy is carved in a high-head or gander pose, with the neck and head assembly joined to the body and secured with visible iron nails. The surface exhibits a weathered appearance with significant paint loss, revealing the underlying wood grain and remnants of a black and white paint scheme. An egg-shaped weight, possibly lead or stone and bearing traces of white paint, is attached to the forward underside by an iron screw eye and a short metal chain. The underside also shows several small holes and a larger recessed area intended for former ballast weights. No maker marks, signatures, or brands are legible on the piece. Body length: 19 inches.
