Zuni Pueblo Polychrome Owl Whistle - A hand-coiled and painted ceramic owl figurine of Zuni Pueblo origin, functioning as a whistle with a hollow protruding beak that contains two circular apertures. The exterior is finished with a cream-colored slip and decorated with a repeating black scalloped pattern intended to represent feathers. Terracotta-red slip accents the prominent ear tufts, the beak, and the centers of the concentric-circle eyes. The base of the figurine is marked with the hand-painted characters N. B. in black paint.
