Chalkware G. Washington on Horseback - A polychrome painted decorative figurine of cast plaster, or chalkware, depicting General George Washington in 18th-century Continental Army attire. The figure is modeled wearing a blue coat with ruffles at the cuffs, white breeches, black boots, and a tricorn hat. A sheathed saber is carried at the left hip. The rider is mounted on a brown horse in a leaping pose over a textured base modeled to resemble rocky or woody terrain. The front and sides of the oval base feature a row of twelve embossed five-pointed stars. The underside is solid and flat with no impressed or printed maker marks. Small dark irregular inclusions and air bubbles from the casting process are visible on the base bottom. The figurine stands approximately 11.5 inches in height and the base measures approximately 8.5 inches in width.
