Antonita Chosa Jemez Jar & Vessel - A collection of two hand-coiled Southwest Pueblo pottery vessels. The larger vessel is a Jemez polychrome seed jar featuring matte tan, black, and red slip decoration over a natural red clay body. The jar is decorated with complex geometric motifs including stepped cloud and lightning designs. The base is signed in black pigment with the hand-painted characters A. CHOSA over JEMEZ. The second vessel is a squat redware bowl with a polished surface and a band of sgraffito-incised geometric decoration highlighted with buff slip around the shoulder. The base features markings that are not clearly legible. This vessel is accompanied by a white paper label with handwritten characters reading Santa Clara. Jemez jar: approximately 3.25 inches in height and 4 inches in diameter at the widest point. Redware bowl: approximately 2.25 inches in height and 3.75 inches in diameter at the widest point.
