Victorian Bovine Hoof Pincushion - A Victorian-era novelty pincushion constructed with a polished taxidermy cloven hoof as the base. The hoof, likely from a bovine or large deer species, features a translucent honey-colored appearance with prominent dark brown vertical striations. A padded fabric cushion is mounted into the top opening of the specimen. The upholstery is a woven textile featuring a raised green foliate pattern on a tan ground. The seam between the textile and the hoof is finished with a decorative gold-toned metallic braid trim, which is secured by six circular brass-colored upholstery tacks. A matching metallic thread tassel is suspended from the center front tack. The underside shows the interior of the hoof lined with green fabric, where two metal nail heads are visible, forming part of the internal structural mounting for the cushion. No maker marks, labels, or signatures are present on the object.
