Mission Style Oak Footstool w/ Carpet - An Arts and Crafts style footstool constructed from quarter-sawn oak, displaying characteristic medullary ray flecking throughout the grain. The design follows classic Mission lines with four square-section legs that extend slightly above the seat rails, joined by four upper rails and four lower stretchers with mortise and tenon construction. The seat is upholstered with a fragment of a hand-knotted Oriental-style carpet, featuring a central floral medallion in red, orange, and cream tones on a deep blue field. The textile is secured to a solid wooden seat board using a perimeter of large, rounded, patinated brass-headed tacks. The underside shows the dark-stained oak frame and the bottom of the wooden seat board. The base of each leg is fitted with a modern circular beige felt pad.
