Mesoamerican Relief Vase & Florals - This lot features a square-bodied earthenware vase with a short, tapered neck and a flared rim. Each of the four sides is decorated with a high-relief molded figure in a Mesoamerican style. The figures are depicted in profile wearing feathered headdresses, collars, and loincloths, holding a staff in one hand and a rectangular shield or bag in the other. The vase is finished with a textured, matte mustard-yellow ochre wash that has been rubbed back to accentuate the molded details. The vase holds an artificial silk floral arrangement consisting of two large yellow sunflowers with dark brown centers and several stems of yellow forsythia blossoms.
